Meeting no. 21 of the Defence Commission: General Beaudouin was the guest of honour at the 21st meeting of the Richelieu Committee’s Defence Commission
The Richelieu Committee’s Defence Commission met on Wednesday, 22 March 2017 at Elno’s premises with General Beaudouin, director of the STAT (Technical Section of the Army). This organisation liaises between the army Chiefs of Staff and France’s Defence Procurement Agency (the DGA), conducting and monitoring armament programmes from the upstream stage (policy decisions for armament programmes) up to the decommissioning of equipment. Similarly, it is the STAT that makes proposals to the Chief-of-Staff of the French Army for the use and commissioning of hardware and equipment. The STAT also manages a budget enabling it to place orders, with or without calls for tenders to our SMEs, sometimes for immediate external operations or for experimental purposes, the first step before drafting specifications.
The members of the Richelieu Committee Defence Commission were able to converse with General Beaudouin throughout the morning, before rounding off the meeting pleasantly with a lunchtime cocktail.
